Luck of the Irish

Best plans always go wrong. So is the case last night. Got everything done, except for last piece of luggage is open on the floor in bedroom when Jamie asks if she can bring down her shoes. Didn't know she meant another 5 pair! (already have packed at least 5 already). Guess she thinks she needs shoes for every occasion. Well, this morning I will fill her in on the shoe limitations of this trip.

During packing I ran into either a) the package from the $100 club with my camera batteries, or b) the edge of my suitcase on the floor and decided to do some Kung Fu Fighting. The luggage or the battery won because a few minutes later my toe was bleeding massively all over the carpet and marble as I walked through the house. Of course, no trip could be started without a catastrophe to deal with. My poor toe, especially after all the painstaking effort I went to to have my toes so nice for this cruise. Well, now with my injured toe, that changes everything. I was planning on wearing my tennis shoes today for good walking shoes through airports, but now I must unpack my sandals and wear those instead.
So, after that fiasco, I finally went to bed at midnight, knowing that Robert would be home around 7 a.m. this morning. Well, about 3:45 a.m., I hear Jamie up and in the kitchen (thinking she is getting in her last minute computer time) and yell from the bedroom "Jamie, what are you doing?" Robert answers, and says he is home from work. Oh.......so he proceeds to come to bed and immediately fall asleep and snoring and I now lay wide awake thinking of all the things I didn't need to do because I had already done them. I actually laid there for over an hour thinking about typing in our family blog, but then I made a bet with myself that if I was still awake at 5 a.m. I would just get up. Well between 4:45 and 5:00, I must have actually fallen back asleep, because it was now 6:15 a.m.

Okay, so now we are all up, having showered, and I am now going to go post on the disboards and send my blog address to some family and friends and then we are off to the airport at 8:30 a.m. so we can head on our first leg of our trip to Atlanta. Tomorrow this time we might even be kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland.
